SITGES is the most popular gay destination in Spain, offering over 300 days of sun and warm weather a year.  The average temperature ranges from 79 to 92 degrees Fahrenheit during the Summer months (from July to the end of September).  Sitges has been renowned as a bohemian hang-out and artist’s colony since the early nineteen hundreds.  And continues it’s long-standing gay appeal.

Renowned painters such as Picasso, Dali or Miro. And writers such as Tennessee Williams and Douglas Fairbanks used to vacation at Sitges.  Many of their works are displayed in some of the city’s finest art galleries and museums.

The town also boasts some stunning Cuban-style colonial architecture (built on the wealth of the sugar trade).  There are many grand neo-classical Catalan mansions here with magnificent carved timber doors, hand-painted ceramic tile murals, and intricate wrought iron balconies, door lanterns and window grilles.

The first gay disco in Spain was opened in Sitges in the mid 80s and it keeps on rocking today.  A short walking distance from your hotel is the gay beach and two nudist beaches, 450 shops, twenty gay bars, dozens of cafes, and amazing restaurants  and two night clubs that rock till 6:00 am.  The population of the Sitges resort swells from 30,000 locals to 250,000 during peak season (from late April to mid-October).

The city also organizes some of the best gay events in Spain.  From Carnival which is a 4 day outdoor party in the last week of February, to the Gay Pride which is normally in mid June this town knows how to party. There is a special party somewhere almost every weekend in Sitges.  And during the summer months, every day is the weekend.   There are gay beach parties at the Atlantida disco every Tuesday night during the summer months, the Bears week in September and the renowned Sitges Film Festival in early October which attracts the international jet-set with Hollywood actors mingling with locals for the entire two weeks.

Throughout the summer, there is a series of concerts, live jazz sessions, and outdoor spectaculars featuring famous Spanish and International artists.

Sitges also offers lots to do and see during the daytime.  There is sun bathing on the gay or nudist beaches.  You can sip a cocktail or drink a beer at any of the gay bars, discos or strip clubs, relax in a sauna or just admire the thousands of people coming from all over Europe to the beaches of Sitges.
